Packers: Aaron Jones contract details for new four-year deal
The Green Bay Packers made sure to prevent RB Aaron Jones from hitting free agency, agreeing on a four-year contract Sunday
The Green Bay Packers made a significant commitment to Aaron Jones, keeping the explosive running back and one of Aaron Rodgers’ most dangerous weapons from hitting the free agent market Sunday.
Jones and the Packers agreed to terms on a four-year contract, which league sources tell FanSided is worth an average of $9.5 million per season with escalators that can push Jones’ APY to $14 million, if he hits certain incentives.
ESPN reports that Jones’ deal also includes a $13 million signing bonus.

The premier running back who was scheduled to hit the open-market, Jones rushed for 1,104 yards and nine touchdowns in 2020, while averaging 5.5 yards per attempt. Through his first four seasons, Jones has logged 651 carries for 3,364 yards and 37 scores, while averaging 5.2 yards per reception.
The Packers, and general manager Brian Gutekunst, clearly value keeping playmakers around Rodgers, especially after coming up short in the NFC Championship Game the past two seasons.
In addition to Jones, the Packers chose running back A.J. Dillon in the second-round of last year’s NFL Draft, but it seems Dillon is going to need to wait for his opportunity to be the bell-cow, while potentially forming a dynamic backfield duo alongside Jones in 2021 and beyond.
