Chiefs: Stat proves Kansas City’s offense is in league of its own
The Kansas City Chiefs offense is always going to give opposing teams nightmares with Patrick Mahomes under center.
With Patrick Mahomes running the offense for the Kansas City Chiefs, the organization figures to light up scoreboards each and every week. With so many playmakers suiting up for the team too, Kansas City really is tough to defend.
What makes things even more difficult for teams to try and contain Mahomes and Co. is how diverse they are when it comes to calling plays. When it comes to the team executing RPOs (run-pass option), no one even comes close to the Chiefs on any given Sunday.
Opposing defenses will always have fits when trying to stop the Kansas City Chiefs offense
Indeed, since 2018, the Chiefs have ran 669 RPOs, which is more than 200 than any other team. It’s tough to think the margin is that wide, but it just goes to show you how special Kansas City is when the offense is out on the field.
Time and time again, we’ve seen Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Tyreek Hill and the rest of the guys on offense put on a show with the pigskin. Last winter, Kansas City took home its first Super Bowl title in 50 years. They were expected to repeat as champs this past year, but the Tampa Bay Buccaneers pulled off a monster upset to prevent that from happening.
Despite the heartbreak of not taking home the Lombardi Trophy in February, Kansas City is already considered the favorite to win it all next season. That shouldn’t come as a huge surprise, especially with Mahomes entering the new campaign with plenty of motivation.
Once the 2021 season does roll around, the Chiefs will be ready to make more history and keep making stunning plays on offense.
