Zach Ertz wants to be traded and is growing increasingly frustrated with the Philadelphia Eagles’ inability to move him.

After eight seasons in the City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia Eagles tight end Zach Ertz wants to be traded out of town. However, there does not appear to be much of a market for the former Pro Bowl tight end.

2020 was a terrible year for the Eagles, as they went 4-11-1, fired their former head coach Doug Pederson and benched former starting quarterback Carson Wentz in favor of rookie Jalen Hurts before sending him to the Indianapolis Colts. The Eagles reportedly want a third or fourth-round pick for Ertz, but nobody is chomping at the bit to trade for him. His contract is a massive one.

Zach Ertz’s trade value feels almost non-existent at this point

Ertz is in the midst of a five-year deal worth $42 million. He is slated to make over $8 million in base salary for 2021. Ertz is coming off easily the worst season of his professional career out of Stanford. In only 11 games last year, Ertz had just 36 receptions for 335 yards and a touchdown. Those were all career-worst marks for him, as was his dismal 9.3 yards per reception average.

Overall, Ertz is being paid top-five tight end money and did not come close to earning his salary from a year ago. With Pederson and Wentz out of town, Ertz could be soon behind them. While the Eagles certainly want a mid-round pick for him, it would not make any sense for them to release, as that would yield nearly a $7.8 million dead cap hit. The Eagles are running out of time here.

A change of scenery would do Ertz some good, but the Eagles will not trade him for just anything.
