You better believe countless fans in Kansas City are still jumping for joy after it was revealed that the Chiefs had signed stud offensive lineman Joe Thuney to a five-year, $80 million contract. Seriously, where in the heck did this come from?

What really makes you turn your head with the Thuney contract is that Veach was able to make it work where there’s only a $4.5 million cap hit for the 2021 season. That’s it? How in the heck were they able to pull this off?

For the Chiefs, the addition of Thuney comes after Kansas City had announced last week they had released offensive tackles Mitchell Schwartz and Eric Fisher. Now, the team has added without question one of the most touted lineman in free agency.

Thuney had spent the previous five campaigns suiting up for Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots. He appeared in 80 regular season games, starting every single showdown he’s played in since his rookie campaign. That’s nothing short of impressive.

Now, the 6-foot-5, 310-pounder will join the Chiefs and hope to make a difference in helping the team win its second Super Bowl in the past three years. With Kansas City the favorites to lift the Lombardi Trophy next winter, adding a guy like Thuney for the offense is only going to increase their odds.
