The Jaguars are reportedly adding receiver Marvin Jones as the team prepares to begin a new era in 2021 with Trevor Lawrence at quarterback.

The Jacksonville Jaguars made a big move early Tuesday afternoon by signing defensive back Shaquill Griffin away from the Seattle Seahawks. But the moves did not stop there.

The afternoon rolled on and news dropped that Urban Meyer’s team was also adding a talented new receiver in Marvin Jones. He now shows up to an improved receiving corps looking to do great things with Trevor Lawrence at quarterback in 2021.

At this point, Jaguars fans can safely assume Lawrence is coming to town. If the team drafted someone else, Meyer may be run out of town before he even coaches in a game.

Jones shows up after a solid season with the Detroit Lions. He played in all 16 games and finished with 76 receptions for 978 yards and nine touchdowns.

Jones will be the veteran of the bunch and should be a go-to target for Lawrence all season. He had 115 targets in 2020 and could get right near 100 again given his reliability as a pass-catcher.

The Jaguars are in an interesting position. They did just finish 1-15, but that turned out to be a blessing in a year when a generational quarterback prospect is available. There is no guarantee Lawrence lives up to the hype, but the vibes are good in Jacksonville right now.

Talented free agents are actively signing with the team as well, which is rare for a 1-15 squad. Having a ton of cap space to use certainly helps the team on that front as well.

Jones is 31 years old and if all goes well, he could finish out his career in Jacksonville winning alongside Lawrence and Meyer.
