Warriors: Steph Curry sets new Dubs record

Steph Curry set a new Warriors record that shows off his abilities to make his teammates better.

The Golden State Warriors had a rough Monday night. They had a chance for a showcase win against the Los Angeles Lakers but instead suffered a 31-point loss.

Steph Curry’s 27 points were not enough, but he did do something notable in an otherwise forgettable loss. The point guard dished out two assists that officially made him the franchise’s all-time leader in that category.

Steph Curry sets another Warriors record

Anyone that hears Curry set a record may automatically think it has to do with his own scoring. Yet this new mark has to do with his abilities to make his teammates better and set them up for success.

Curry now has 4,856 assists, which puts him right ahead of franchise great Guy Rodgers. Both Curry and Rodgers are the only Warriors to ever eclipse the 4,000-assist mark. Draymond Green currently sits with 3,143 and could get to 4,000 if he finishes his career with the Warriors.

It is easy to forget that Curry remains a point guard on the floor. He is averaging over six assists per game this season and is at 6.6 per game for his career. Curry may drop 30 points with ease, but he is also getting his teammates involved at the same time.

The next major Warriors record for Curry to topple is the franchise record for points. Wilt Chamberlain is currently in first with 17,783 points. Curry is right behind him at 17,531.

2021 will be a year of records for Curry, but his main concern is going to be getting the Warriors back into the postseason.
