2021 NFL Mock Draft: Free agency flips first round projections
By Brad Weiss
The Tennessee Titans will have to find a way to revamp their defense this offseason, and they have already started to get the party started in free agency. Mike Vrabel has added the likes of Bud Dupree, Janoris Jenkins, and Denico Autry to the mix, and can add another elite talent here at No. 22.
Gregory Rousseau is one of the better edge rushers in this draft class, and he is a guy who is going to come in and harass quarterbacks at the next level. For the Titans, this is a complete rebuild on defense, and looking ahead, they could have turned a major weakness into a major strength with all of these additions.
The New York Jets hold two first-round picks this April, this thanks to the trade they made with the Seattle Seahawks for Jamal Adams. After adding a quarterback at pick No. 2, the one they earned by being one of the worst teams in football last season, they turn their focus to the defense at No. 23, adding Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah.
There are rumblings that the Jets could try and trade C.J. Mosley, so adding JOK would make a ton of sense this late in round one. Some mocks have him going in the top-10, so if he is available, even if Mosley stays, the Jets cannot afford to pass up on a talent like him.
The Pittsburgh Steelers will have Ben Roethlisberger back under center this upcoming season, and you can take that information any way you want to. Even with Big Ben returning, the Steelers have major issues on the offensive side of the ball, especially up front, where they use this No. 24 overall selection.
With this pick, the Steelers bring in Michigan offensive tackle Jalen Mayfield, who has the size and strength needed to play on the left side at the next level. The Steelers have to keep Roethlisberger upright for this to work, and Mayfield can help them do that.
