The Kansas City Chiefs continue to make moves to help out the offensive line, with the team signing veteran hoss Kyle Long.

Earlier this month, veteran offensive lineman Kyle Long surprised many, announcing that he was coming out of retirement to put the pads back on in the trenches. Well, the veteran has now put himself in a position to potentially win a Super Bowl next season.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Long has agreed to a one-year deal to join the Kansas City Chiefs and will now be in charge of joining a unit to help protect the NFL’s richest man in Patrick Mahomes. Remember, Kansas City also brought in Joe Thuney this week.

Kyle Long will be signing a one-year deal worth $5 million with the Kansas City Chiefs

After spending seven years with the Chicago Bears from 2013-2019, Long retired and enjoyed watching the 2020 campaign from the comfort of his own home. He suited up at tackle and guard over his seven-year career in Chicago and earned Pro Bowl honors three times.

So, where will Long line up once he arrives to Kansas City and throws on a practice jersey? According to FanSided’s Matt Verderame, the Kansas City coaches are bringing in the 6-foot-6, 330-pounder to try and compete for one of the starting guard spots.

Long played guard in six of his seven years with Chicago. He played right tackle for the team in 2015, starting all 16 games at the position. However, he moved back to right guard in 2016 and never looked back.

In his short time as a free agent, Long received interest from several teams over the past few weeks. With that said, he’s clearly got Super Bowl aspirations on his mind if he’s decided to un-retire. Joining an offense as potent as Kansas City’s will certainly put him in a great spot to get himself a ring.
