The Bears offer for Russell Wilson included three first-round picks and two players. Who were those two players?

Wilson is a tremendous talent, and to acquire him, Chicago would’ve been forced to give in to whatever the Seahawks’ demands are. Despite a hefty trade offer (per reports), the Seahawks weren’t willing to send Wilson to the Windy City.

Three first-round picks and the likes of Khalil Mack and Akiem Hicks — two legitimate stars on the Bears defense — proves Ryan Pace was willing to go all-in for Wilson. Sadly for Pace, it seems Wilson is more untouchable than the Seahawks let on.

The Seahawks evidently wanted some proven young talent for Wilson, which is something the Bears couldn’t offer.

The Bears signed Andy Dalton after admitting defeat on Russell Wilson

Bears fans weren’t thrilled about it, but the team signed Andy Dalton to battle it out with Nick Foles in training camp. That’s a lackluster option, but one the Bears felt compelled to make after they couldn’t sign Wilson.

Per Jason La Confora, the Bears approach in trading for Wilson wasn’t good enough.

“Bears lack young proven talent on rookie deals and approach lacked creativity. Likely needed to move up to get a higher pick or involve a 3rd team to get a QB to Seattle. Now they roll with Dalton and Foles and wait to see if they survive til 22,” La Confora reported.

Mitchell Trubisky is likely heading elsewhere, proving the Bears made a mistake in the 2017 NFL Draft (as if we needed more evidence). Foles is only on the roster because of his contract. Meanwhile, the Bears defense remains one of the best in football.

Hopefully for Bears fans, that’s enough to lead them back to the postseason.
