Bears pursuing Kenny Golladay puts Allen Robinson’s future in flux
The Chicago Bears are pursuing free agent receiver Kenny Golladay which complicates the future of Allen Robinson in the Windy City.
Allen Robinson is unhappy and doesn’t want to play on the franchise tag. Now, the Chicago Bears wide receiver may get his wish in a roundabout way if the team advances in their pursuit of free agent receiver Kenny Golladay.
The Bears met with Golladay who is one of the top free agents left on the market and could throw a wrench in the plans for the Bears if he signs with the club. Golladay and the Bears haven’t been linked as a possibility but ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the two sides met on Wednesday night.
No deal was struck, which could hint at the likelihood of the former Detroit Lions receiver eventually signing with the Bears, but that could change depending on how his meeting goes with the New York Giants. The Cincinnati Bengals are another team that’s shown interest in the NFL’s leader with 11 touchdowns in the 2019 season.

Bears pursuing Kenny Golladay could lead to Allen Robinson trade
After battling injury last season, Golladay was limited to 20 catches for 338 yards and two touchdowns in five games.
He had 135 receptions for 2,253 yards and 16 touchdowns the previous two seasons.
Golladay, a Chicago native who starred at St. Rita high school and Northern Ilinois could be intrigued by playing for his hometown team.
But could he be intrigued by playing for Andy Dalton who will be his quarterback?
The Giants may be able to offer him much more money while the Bengals may too on top of the allure of being the No. 1 target for last year’s No. 1 pick, Joe Burrow.
However, if the Bears sign Golladay, it could complicate things for Robinson.
The Bears could remove the franchise tag and let Robinson enter the free agent market where he’ll instantly be the top player available.
Or they could try to work out a trade where the team trading for him would then try to work out an extension to keep their new acquisition happy.
The chances of them co-existing is not likely due to salary cap concerns, but it would be the number one option for Bears fans who are bracing for more heartbreak after the Dalton news.
