Sister Jean celebrates Loyola advancing in March Madness (Video)
Sister Jean was in Indianapolis to watch Loyola knock off Georgia Tech in their March Madness first-round matchup and she loved every moment of it.
Loyola has survived the first round of the madness.
The Ramblers defeated Georgia Tech 71-60 on Friday afternoon to advance to the round of 32. Tech was without its forward/center and ACC Player of the Year Moses Wright who tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday.
The Yellow Jackets did their best to keep the game close but Wright’s absence in the paint was the glaring difference in the matchup. Josh Pastner’s squad was out-rebounded 30-17 and only managed to grab one on the offensive end, thus resulting in the end of their season.
Loyola’s number one fan, Sister Jean, was able to make the trip to see her team advance to the next round and she loved every moment of it. The 101-year-old chaplain for the Loyola basketball team watched her squad in action for the first time this season and they certainly did not disappoint.

Loyola knocks off Georgia Tech, advances to the Round of 32
Loyola’s No. 1 nationally ranked scoring defense proved to be no fluke as they held Tech to just 30 percent from 3-point range and 60 percent from the free-throw line.
The Ramblers move on to face the No. 1 seed Illinois for a spot in the Sweet 16. The Fighting Illini beat Drexel in a convincing 78-49 win on Friday afternoon to advance ahead of Loyola.
We’ll see if Sister Jean can bring Loyola more magic this tournament.
