Round 2

CB. Florida State. Asante Samuel Jr.. 45. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 40. player

As was said, the Broncos could desperately use a cornerback in the draft, and they get an absolute gift as Asante Samuel Jr. falls to 40. There are some flaws in his game, but his upside is off the charts. His size might have teams saying “no thanks” and it could pay dividends for the Broncos.

At 5’10, Samuel might have a lot of size to cover, but he plays much bigger than that. He’s able to get very high up to knock balls away from receivers much bigger than him. He’s been able to play on the outside and in the slot, so he can jump into a starting lineup tomorrow and play where a team needs him.

Obviously, Samuel comes from an NFL lineage. His father was a star for the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles. Football is in his blood, and he plays a very similar game as his father. He could be a ball hawk in the NFL for years to come.

Samuel’s best attribute is his mind. He’s able to predict where the ball is going to go, and make sure he’s in the right place to knock it away. This is the type of player the Broncos will love. He will always make the play, and he really just needs to add a little weight to be awesome.
