The injury woes for the Los Angeles Lakers continue, as star LeBron James could be out long-term.

The Los Angeles Lakers have had to deal with some rough injury luck this season. Anthony Davis has been sidelined for the past month due to right leg injuries, but the good news was that the Lakers still had LeBron James.

On Saturday, James got tangled up with Atlanta Hawks forward Solomon Hill, causing him to awkwardly bend his right ankle. While he did remain in the game briefly, he did ultimately go to the locker room for tests. We now have an update, and it is not good.

According to ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, James has been diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain and will be out indefinitely.

Lakers: LeBron James out indefinitely with high-ankle sprain

The absolute last thing the Lakers needed was for James to miss time due to an injury. Since it is a high-ankle sprain, the “indefinite” timeline is something that will give Lakers fans many a sleepless night.

James’ injury occurred in the second quarter of the contest. Even after rolling on the court in pain, the star did stay in the game and actually managed to hit a three-point shot. However, James decided to check out of the game to receive further treatment. The Lakers went on to lose to the Hawks 99-94.

This season, James is averaging 25.8 points, 8.1 rebounds and 8.0 assists while shooting 51.3-percent from the field and 36.7-percent from the three-point line.

Losing James this late into the season could be catastrophic for the Lakers. We should get a better timeline for his return in the very near future. But with the trade deadline taking place on March 25, one has to wonder how the Lakers will approach it.
