Ohio State basketball star E.J. Liddell was subjected to racist comments on social media after the Buckeyes lost to Oral Roberts in the NCAA Tournament.
E.J. Liddell is one of the best players in college basketball and one of the better people in the game. The Ohio State basketball star revealed he was subjected to hateful racist messages via social media after the Buckeyes lost to Oral Roberts in the Round of 64 in the NCAA Tournament.
Be warned, there are racial and anti-gay slurs in the comments Liddell shared on his Twitter account that he received via his Instagram following the game.

E.J. Liddell subjected to vile racist comments after Ohio State game
“Comments don’t get to me but I just wanna know why,” Liddell tweeted. I’ve never done anything to anyone in my life to be approached like this.”
This is not me saying anything negative about Ohio State fans,” Liddell said in a follow-up tweet. I love you all dearly and I’ve felt nothing but appreciated since the first day I stepped on campus.
There is absolutely no place in the world for this type of language and treatment to another human being.
Sadly, social media has made it all too easy for people to hide behind an anonymous avatar and shout out all sorts of hateful, vile and racist rhetoric like this.
The good thing to come out of this is many, many people came to the defense of Liddell after he was subjected to this hate speech, including his head coach Chris Holtmann.

Those are ppl who can’t do what you do, never will be the man you are but live vicariously thru you. When things don’t go the way they wish they project feelings about themselves on to you. Know this: your humanity/skills are respected by we who have been there and understand.

Keep your head bro... Some ppl don’t see you as a human more like entertainment.. keep being the young man that you are bro. Proud of you. Use these messages to fuel your fire...

Social media can be an ugly cesspool that this is the latest example. It also provided an example of the good it can be with thousands and thousands of people condemning the language he was subjected to and lifting him up. We need more of that.
