Texas Tech legend Patrick Mahomes did not hide displeasure for his alma matter’s loss in the NCAA Tournament.

Patrick Mahomes summed up the feelings of every Texas Tech basketball fan in one sad emoji.

Texas Tech missed a layup in the closing seconds that would have forced overtime against 3-seed Arkansas but lost 68-66 and their season ends in heartbreak.

Mahomes was, of course, disappointed with how the Red Raiders season ended, considering how the last time the tournament was held, Texas Tech advanced to the national championship as a 3-seed and lost to Virginia in OT.

It only took one emoji to express his feelings and the feelings of Red Raiders fans after that heartbreaking ending.

The Texas Tech Red Raiders fought back valiantly but came up short in the end.

Razorbacks senior Justin Smith took control in the game, scoring 20 points. Additionally, four Arkansas players scored at least 10 points.

In contrast, Texas Tech played better from beyond the arc, nailing half their shots and had three players score in double figures but it just wasn’t enough to make the Sweet 16.

Sophomore Terrence Shannon Jr. led the team with 20 points on 38 percent shooting while knocking down all five of his five free attempts. Senior Marcus-Santos-Silva grabbed five rebounds in the losing effort.

There’s no question that Chris Beard will get the Red Raiders to make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament after rejuvenated the program, and we can also be assured that Mahomes will always cheer on his school.
