Kevin Durant found it ‘hilarious’ that Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr enjoyed last season more than the 2018-19 campaign.

The Golden State Warriors are enjoying a much more successful year than in the 2019-20 campaign. Golden State currently sits in ninth place in the Western Conference and is only one game out of the final playoff spot as of this writing. This is certainly an improvement over last season when the Warriors finished dead-last in the West.

Speaking of last season, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr told Logan Murdock of The Ringer that he actually enjoyed last season over the 2018-19 campaign, which was the final year of Kevin Durant on the Warriors. Important to note — Kerr did not bring up Durant by name. He was only talking about the 2018-19 season as a whole.

Durant spotted this tweet and decided to respond by saying, “this is hilarious.”

Warriors: Steve Kerr had more fun last year than in Kevin Durant’s final year with Golden State

Kerr is not lying when he said that there was a lot going on in the final official year of the Warriors super team. There was the much-talked-about altercation between Durant and Draymond Green early on in the regular-season. Then, the NBA Finals took place where the Warriors lost to the Toronto Raptors in six games, where Durant tore his Achilles and Klay Thompson tore his ACL. Oh, and then there was the looming free agency of Durant.

In arguably the most hyped free agency in NBA history, Durant announced that he was joining the Brooklyn Nets alongside guard Kyrie Irving to build a super team of his own in the East. However, he did not participate in the first official year of his contract as he recovered from his leg injury.

Last season, the Warriors were already without Thompson with his knee injury. Things only got worse when superstar guard Stephen Curry broke his left hand. The Warriors finished the season with a 15-50 record and clinched the second-overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, which was used on Memphis center James Wiseman.

The less-than-ideal campaign was less stressful because there were little-to-no expectations, but Durant wanted to let Kerr know that he found his comments funny.
