5 players Bears should draft in the first round
4. Elijah Moore
Moore is a prospect that projects to be available when Chicago goes on the clock at No. 20. He can’t replace what Robinson gave the Bears on the outside in recent seasons, but he can give their offense a serious upgrade in the slot.
He’s still relatively raw as a route-runner, but he made big strides under Lane Kiffin in 2020. Moore overcomes any technical issues with his elite speed and burst. The former Ole Miss standout made SEC defenders look bad any time they tried to tackle him in space last season.
Moore can also help Nagy’s offense as a guy who can create yards on quick screens and perimeter runs. Given the quarterback uncertainty in Chicago, it’s fair to assume the offense will need to create some big plays in unconventional manners next year. Moore is a guy who can make something out of nothing when he gets the ball.
Drafting Moore at No. 20 might be seen as a stretch by some scouts, but he can come in and make plays immediately for the Bears’ offense. He isn’t the team’s best-case scenario in Round 1, but he represents a decent consolation prize.
