If the Packers were determined to solidify their options at corner in 2021 then they should have gone for the most accomplished option on the market. Signing Sherman on a one-year deal would have given Green Bay much more value than they got on the King deal.

It’s unlikely $6 million would have been enough to reel in the future Hall of Famer, but spending a few extra million on Sherman was the right move for a team that believes it’s ready to win another Super Bowl in 2021.

Inserting Sherman into the secondary would have injected some much-needed confidence into the Packers’ secondary. The 32-year-old defender doesn’t have the speed to run stride for stride with deep threats in single coverage any longer, but he still uses his exceptional length to shut wideouts down on short and intermediate throws.

Green Bay’s front office might be wary about adding an outspoken player like Sherman to their locker room, but he backs up his words with really good play on the field. He would have been the perfect addition to a secondary that needs to find a little confidence.
