Dodgers: Cody Bellinger says new batting stance isn’t injury-related
In an exclusive interview with FanSided, Los Angeles Dodgers slugger Cody Bellinger opens up on his decision to change his batting stance leading up to the new season.
Life is good for the reigning World Series-champion Los Angeles Dodgers. The team is all set to try and go back-to-back, with their star players putting on a show down at spring training. If there’s one thing that’s stood out, though, it’s that slugger Cody Bellinger has changed up his batting stance.
Remember, Bellinger also had arthroscopic shoulder surgery during the offseason. So, was his injury what led him to change up his stance? FanSided’s Mark Carman spoke with Bellinger in a wide-ranging interview and got the answer to that question.
Cody Bellinger is all set to use his new stance during the 2021 MLB season
“No, it had nothing to do with the injury,” Bellinger told Carman. “For me, it truly doesn’t feel that much different than what I’ve done in the past. I’ve actually done it in the past and I feel comfortable with it. Like I said, really, I feel comfortable with it and that’s all that matters to me.
“People are going to say what they want, think what they want, but I truly feel good with it and my hitting coaches — I’ve worked with my hitting coaches — we’re good.”
A two-time All-Star, Bellinger is getting ready to enter his fifth season with the Dodgers. While he of course helped the team win the World Series in 2020, he took home AL MVP honors in 2019 after putting up some ridiculous numbers. That year, Bellinger hit .305 with 47 home runs and 115 RBI.
Now, he’s all set to have another big campaign for the Dodgers and look to help them get back to the World Series. All eyes will be on him and hat new batting stance throughout the season.
