Historic Nuggets-Raptors game features NBA’s first all-female broadcast

Wednesday night’s Raptors-Nuggets game features the NBA’s first ever all-female broadcast team.

There are plenty of negative storylines surrounding the Toronto Raptors right now. The team has lost nine straight and may trade away stars like Kyle Lowry or Norman Powell. But Wednesday has brought some amazing news in the form of the team’s television broadcast.

The Raptors are taking on the Denver Nuggets and the team’s TSN broadcast is making history with the NBA’s first all-female broadcast team.

Raptors broadcast team makes history

This is amazing to see and far too long overdue. Kate Beirness, Amy Audibert, Kia Nurse, Meghan McPeak, and Kayla Grey all combine to make this history in what is a trail-blazing moment for women in the field of sports broadcasting.

The broadcast begins with Beirness offering a message to young women that they can indeed do anything they set their mind to and to always dream big. That is a message everyone should be able to get behind.

After that initial message the focus was right back on the game itself. The Raptors official Twitter account was sharing all the highlights from the historic night and also retweeting messages of support from fans.

This is an example of positive history that should end up going down as a foundational moment for women in sports broadcasting. Andrea Kremer and Hannah Storm did make history of their own by announcing NFL games on Amazon. However, that was one available option among several broadcasts.

The team at TSN is making sure there are no questions about it. This is an all-female broadcast team and hopefully this moment inspires the next generation of young women looking for their own future in the field of sports broadcasting.
