Georgia head coach Kirby Smart was understandably fired up to learn that 5-star athlete Malaki Starks committed to the Bulldogs.
As you might imagine, Kirby Smart is a happy man on Thursday. For the third time this cycle, the Georgia Bulldogs have landed a verbal pledge from a 5-star recruit. This time, the staff got the big news from in-state prospect Malaki Starks, ranked the No. 4 athlete in the country per the 247Sports Composite.
While Smart isn’t allowed to comment on a student-athlete until he’s officially signed, the Georgia head coach made it clear to reporters that he couldn’t be happier with the news that Starks will stay home and play for him starting in 2022.

With a simple ‘Go Dawgs,’ Smart was able to let Georgia nation know how he’s feeling right now. Can you blame him? Starks is one of the top players in the country and had 15 total offers. He was down to Georgia, Alabama and Clemson, but the Bulldogs were once again able to win another primetime battle. That of course is bad news for Nick Saban and Dabo Swinney.
With Starks now on board, Georgia holds the No. 2 class in the country per the 247Sports rankings, as they’re behind Ohio State. The Bulldogs have three 5-star prospects and six 4-star recruits on board. Starks is joined by quarterback Gunner Stockton and Deyon Bouie as the 5-star pledges.
With plenty of time leading up before National Signing Day next winter, you already know Smart and his coaches will be doing some serious work in landing other top targets across the county. For Bulldogs fans, winning these recruiting battles feels like a walk in the park these days.
