Texas football spring practice paused due to COVID concerns
Texas football has hit the pause button on spring practice out of an abundance of caution relating to COVID issues.

The Steve Sarkisian era is going to get off to a delayed start with Texas football pausing spring practice as players work through COVID protocols.
Texas announced in a statement the decision to pause spring football was out of an abundance of caution due to the players impacted by COVID-19 protocols.

So it sounds like there wasn’t an outbreak of players testing positive for COVID-19. At least, that’s how it’s being interpreted at this point and there hasn’t been any news of players testing positive. At least not publicly.
While it’s unfortunate that spring practice has hit the pause button, it should only be temporary for a few days or so. Once the COVID-19 protocols are addressed and cleared, then the Sarkisian era can fully get underway.
There are a lot of questions for the team to answer and spring practice is the first opportunity for players to win key position battles, especially at quarterback with the departure of Sam Ehlinger.
But beyond that, it’s a time for Sarkisian to establish the tone and type of culture he wants in place in Austin as he takes over for Tom Herman who did some nice things in his short time with Texas but ended with another year of disappointment and failing to meet expectations and develop talent.
Texas is coming off a 7-3 year with a win over Colorado in the Alamo Bowl.
