New Orleans Saints Pro Bowl defensive back Marshon Lattimore was reportedly arrested in Cleveland.
Marshon Lattimore’s offseason just got a little more complicated.
According to Cleveland.com, the New Orleans Saints cornerback was arrested on Thursday night and booked on suspicion of receiving stolen property.
While Lattimore was arrested and booked, he has not yet formally charged.
“The 24-year-old was arrested on suspicion of receiving stolen property, according to the sources,” Adam Ferrise wrote. “Jail records confirm Lattimore was booked into the Cuyahoga County Jail on the charge. Lattimore has not been formally charged.”
Lattimore is a Cleveland native, to answer any questions about what he was doing there at the time of his arrest.
Not much more is known about the details of the arrest other than Cleveland police’s gang investigators arrested Lattimore around 10:30 p.m. Thursday.
The New Orleans Saints have yet to comment on the arrest, nor has the NFL released any official statement. Lattimore is in the final year of his rookie contract with the Saints, as the team executed its fifth-year rights on him given how phenomenally he’s played since being drafted out of Ohio State back in 2017.
In his time with the Saints, Lattimore has emerged as one of the best defensive backs in football. He’s made the Pro Bowl three times, most recently in back-to-back years in 2019 and 2020, and has routinely been cited as an anchor to the New Orleans defense.
Lattimore is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent after this upcoming season, and the expectation is that New Orleans will try to work out a contract extension to keep on of the pillars of its defense on the bayou.
