After recently returning from a broken hand, New York Knicks center Mitchell Robinson is now sidelined with a fractured foot.

The New York Knicks were reportedly in the running for free-agent center Andre Drummond after his contract was bought out by the Cleveland Cavaliers. But on Saturday, New York Newsday’s Steve Popper reported that the Knicks were not actively pursuing Drummond because they were fond of their centers and wanted to see what Mitchell Robinson could do back in the starting lineup.

Life comes at you fast.

During Saturday’s game between the Knicks and Milwaukee Bucks, Robinson suffered a fracture in his right foot during a block attempt in the first quarter. The Knicks announced that Robinson is set to be re-evaluated on Sunday once the team returns to New York.

This is the last thing that the Knicks needed to hear, especially with reports indicating that the Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly the strong frontrunners for Drummond. That, and the crosstown rival Brooklyn Nets signed former San Antonio Spurs center LaMarcus Aldridge on Saturday.

Robinson was participating in his fourth game since returning from a broken right hand suffered on Feb. 12 against the Washington Wizards. He returned on March 21 in a 101-100 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers and posted a double-double against the Wizards (16 points, 12 rebounds) on March 23.

Entering Saturday’s game, Robinson has averaged 8.5 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1.5 blocks while shooting 65.1 percent from the field. He recorded 2 points, 1 rebound and 1 steal in 6 minutes of playing time before fracturing his foot.

With Robinson now sidelined for the foreseeable future and Drummond destined to wear the Lakers purple and gold, Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau will lean upon Nerlens Noel and Taj Gibson just like he did when Robinson broke his hand.
