Blake Griffin fires back at fans who are upset he joined the Nets

Blake Griffin is laughing at all the backlash from fans about him and LaMarcus Aldridge signing with the Nets.

The Brooklyn Nets already had a superteam with Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant, and James Harden. The star-power only kept growing with the recent additions of both Blake Griffin and LaMarcus Aldridge.

Griffin appears to be playing like his old self again after a rough stretch with the Detroit Pistons that saw him struggle to stay on the floor in recent years. That tough tenure in Detroit saw Griffin take plenty of criticism about him being overpaid and whether or not he was washed up.

But now he and the Nets are taking flak for continuing to add All-Star talent to the already stacked team. All Griffin can do is laugh at the sharp change in the narrative.

“It’s kind of funny to me, because for the last couple years all I’ve heard is how bad I am,” Griffin said in a New York Post article summing up his views on the situation. “You sign with this team and everybody’s like, ‘that’s not fair!’ People say whatever they want. I don’t put a whole lot of value in other people’s opinions.”

Griffin is spot on with his points. He was written off in Detroit, only for everyone to attack the Nets once he signed there in the buyout market. The same is true for Aldridge. It’s not like the team did some financial trickery to build this roster. They simply added two players fair-and-square following buyouts.

Griffin had his best game with his new team Friday against his old team in the Pistons. He had 17 points in 20 minutes and even knocked down two shots from deep. Fans must remember he is still only 32 years old and has a lot of game left in him.

The six-time All-Star returning to his elite ways is great for the game. That won’t stop the hate, but it all comes with the territory of chasing a championship.
