Seattle Seahawks full 2021 NFL mock draft
By Nick Villano
Round 7
The Seattle Seahawks could use another wide receiver option, but with DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, it’s definitely not a huge priority. They could definitely use a speedy third option in the slot who can quickly get to dirty areas.
Wilson complained about getting hit, but if he doesn’t have to wait for a route to get open, then he can throw it well before the pass rush gets to him. Smith is a player who is coming into the draft underrated. He spent four seasons with the South Carolina Gamecocks. He had three starting quarterbacks during his time.
Last season, Ryan Hilinski lost the starting job before the season, and Smith had another quarterback he had to learn with. He was very consistent with Collin Hill, but when Luke Doty took over, his stats tanked.
Going to a team like the Seattle Seahawks, Smith can finally get some consistency at the quarterback position (hopefully). Even though he’s going in the seventh round, Smith has a chance to make an immediate impact. He’s on the smaller side, but he’s a former four-star recruit out of Union, South Carolina. He stayed home, and it really hurt his value.
However, going to the Seahawks might be the best possible thing for his career.
Smith has a ton of talent, and he fits a need for the Seahawks. If they can come out of this draft with Smith, Browning, and Melifonwu, then this will be a huge win. They get two major needs filled, and they get a best player available at linebacker. All three of these players could make an immediate impact with the upside to turn into starters in the near future.
