Kevin Durant ripped Michael Rapaport a new one in the DMs on Instagram, and no one looked good in the exchange.

NBA fans didn’t even have to wait for Godzilla vs. Kong to see an inevitable clash of titans this week, but unlike that incoming blockbuster, everyone loses in this exchange.

Actor and comedian Michael Rapaport is known for his foul mouth and for firing off unfiltered takes every chance he gets. Brooklyn Nets superstar Kevin Durant is similarly unafraid when it comes to pulling the trigger from his Twitter account, and apparently, the two have been shooting from the hip at each other on Instagram for months now.

Rapaport recently lost his court case against Barstool Sports and Dave Portnoy over defamation claims, and Durant made fun of him for it, going all-out and unhinged in his DMs. Rapaport fired back on Instagram with screenshots of their exchanges over the last few months, and it’s impossible to ignore the repeated pattern of homophobic slurs that emerges.

The first involved Durant replying to a tweet from Rapaport criticizing Durant for “being in his feelings” during an NBA on TNT interview with Charles Barkley. The second showed an exchange stemming from Rapaport posting something on his story with Durant saying, “I don’t know why they still ask for this idiot’s opinion” in regards to Barkley, with Rapaport’s own caption reading, “If someone called @easymoneysniper [Durant] an idiot, he would literally cry on TV.”

Durant, being tagged in that Instagram story, responded directly, and he ripped Rapaport, as you can see from the screen shots below:

Kevin Durant’s response to Michael Rapaport outing him was a bad look too

In truth, no one looks good in this exchange. For Durant, while putting Rapaport on blast may appear to be amusing, resorting to homophobic and misogynistic slurs is an awful look. For Rapaport, thinking those screen shots would suddenly make anyone feel sympathy for him is laughable considered his history of unsavory opinions.

Durant responded on Twitter, saying the two “talk CRAZIER than this on the regular,” basically chalking it up to locker room talk … which is an even worse look.

Rapaport suing Barstool was one of those legal battles where no one was ever going to truly win no matter what the verdict was, and now we’re seeing an incredibly unpleasant side of KD as well.

The lesson, as always, is to avoid Michael Rapaport’s unhinged approach when you can, stop using homophobic language to put someone down and remember that whatever you send in the DMs lives on the internet forever.
