The Wizards have convinced Bradley Beal to hang out for at least another season and they walk a delicate line in trying to improve quickly enough to make the most of his present without sacrificing too much of their future. Kuminga is, admittedly, more of a play for the future. He has fantastic size and athleticism with the potential to develop into a primary creator and scorer. But he’s not a great shooter, his defensive intensity and focus needs work and his decision-making and patience could use a lot of seasoning.
In the short term, Kuminga is mostly a defender and finisher who picks up plenty of easy buckets playing off Beal and Russell Westbrook. But hopefully, he can show enough flashes in the short-term to really help build some momentum, particularly as Deni Avdija continues to blossom and Thomas Bryan returns healthy.
