Braves: Pablo Sandoval demolishes game-tying home run on Opening Day (Video)

Atlanta Braves switch-hitter Pablo Sandoval delivers a clutch pinch-hit, two-run home run.
Down 2-0 to the Philadelphia Phillies, the Atlanta Braves called upon Pablo Sandoval to provide a much-needed offensive spark for the visiting ball club.
With centerfielder Cristian Pache on second base, Sandoval’s moonshot off Aaron Nola tied the game up at two apiece. It knocked Nola out of the game and got Braves starter Max Fried off the hook. Sandoval may not play a ton this year, but his ability to hit well from both sides of the plate will make him such a valuable commodity for the 2021 Braves roster. He came up big right away.
Pablo Sandoval will fit right in with the 2021 Atlanta Braves’ roster
The idea of giving Sandoval a precious roster spot was confusing to some, but he will do more than backup Austin Riley at third base or Freddie Freeman at first base this season. With the National League not giving way to the designated hitter just yet, Sandoval’s ability to pinch hit will be a reason he will have staying power on this team. It has been so far, so good for him in 2021.
Sandoval has already earned great credibility with the Braves in his first full year with the team.
