Despite suffering a loss to the Tigers, the Cleveland Indians enjoyed a strong day from ace hurler Shane Bieber.

Baseball is back and life is good. For the Cleveland Indians, they started things off with a showdown with the Detroit Tigers, sending out Shane Bieber to officially begin their 2021 campaign.

The Cleveland ace finished the afternoon with 12 strikeouts in six innings of work. For all you Indians fans, you’re going to want to watch each and every one of those strikeouts in the video below.

There’s a reason Bieber got the nod on Opening Day folks. The hard-throwing righty impresses whenever he takes the bump. Unfortunately for him, things didn’t go quite as planned, as Bieber did give up three earned runs in his six innings out there and took the loss following the 3-2 defeat.

This included giving up a home run to slugger Miguel Cabrera in the bottom of the first inning. If you haven’t seen video of that shot, it sure was majestic, just not for the Cleveland faithful.

As for Bieber, he’s coming off an incredible 2020 campaign. Last season, the fourth-year pitcher went 8-1 with an impressive 1.63 ERA. He’s entered the spring with monster expectations. Despite not getting off to the start he was hoping for, Bieber is expected to be one of the best starters in the American League throughout the year.

We’ll see how the rest of the season plays out for him, but Indians fans sure are excited to see what he’ll be able to accomplish.
