The Houston Police Department is officially investigating Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson.
On Friday, the Houston Police Department launched its own investigation into the matters concerning Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson and his mounting legal troubles.
“As with any allegation, the Houston Police Department is now conducting an investigation and will not comment further during the investigative process,” said the Houston Police Department in a statement.
“We welcome this long overdue development,” said Watson’s attorney Rusty Hardin. “Now we will learn the identity of at least one accuser. We will fully cooperate with the Houston Police Department.”
Deshaun Watson faces 21 allegations of sexual assault and inappropriate behavior
The Texans’ offseason has been nothing short of an unmitigated disaster. They were the first team to fire their head coach last year and the last one to hire a replacement. Their top-three pick now belongs to the San Francisco 49ers. J.J. Watt now plays for the Arizona Cardinals. And before his legal troubles began, Watson wanted to be traded out of Houston as soon as humanly possible.
But with these major legal issues looming, there is no way Watson can be dealt at this time. In accordance with the NFL‘s personal conduct policy, he is almost certainly going to miss games this season, even if he plays at all. The charges he is facing are serious in nature and if these civil lawsuits become of the criminal variety, he could be doing some serious time if he is convicted.
With the Houston Police Department conducting its own investigation, things are getting serious.
