St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina continues to make history in his 18th major league season.

Molina has been in a surprising number of headlines early this season, as he was very involved in an altercation with the Cincinnati Reds and Nick Castellanos over the weekend. Yadi was unhappy with Castellanos, who flexed after scoring a run in which he slid into home, narrowly avoiding a tag from the Cardinals’ pitcher.

On Monday, the Cardinals were on to a new opponent, and Molina was forced to turn his attention elsewhere. Yadi notched another double against the Miami Marlins, this time making history in the process.

Johnny Bench is royalty among catchers, and Yadier Molina is in rarified air

Bench is almost undoubtedly on the Mouth Rushmore on MLB catchers. Molina is making his own push to join them after passing Bench in said category, though some would argue Yadi still has a way to go.

Molina is a surefire Hall of Famer at this point in his career — his accomplishments at the plate and all with one organization makes him not just a Cardinals great, but an MLB legend.
