ESPN parting ways with Paul Pierce after NSFW video goes viral

ESPN has parted ways with analyst and former Boston Celtics great Paul Pierce following his NSFW Instagram Live video going viral this past weekend.

This past weekend, ESPN analyst and former Boston Celtics player Paul Pierce went viral for a NSFW video he filmed on his Instagram Live stream. In said clip, Pierce was surrounded by exotic dancers as he drank and smoke with others during an apparent poker game. Since this trended over the weekend, there was no response on the incident. Until now.

According to Kyle Koster of The Big Lead, ESPN and Pierce have parted ways on Monday.  While ESPN has yet to comment on the situation, Pierce tweeted out a video of himself laughing with a caption reading “big things coming soon,” mere minutes after reports circulated of his departure from the company.

Prior to his transition to the sports media world, Pierce played professional basketball for 19 seasons, where he was drafted by the Celtics in the first-round of the 1998 NBA Draft. Pierce spent 15 years with the Celtics, where he won the NBA Championship and NBA Finals MVP in 2008 and was a 10-time All-Star. He made the All-NBA Second-Team once (2009) and the All-NBA Third Team three times (2002-03, 2008).

Pierce’s Boston tenure ended in 2013 when he was traded to the Brooklyn Nets alongside teammates Kevin Garnett and Jason Terry. Following one season with the Nets, Pierce played for the Washington Wizards and Los Angeles Clippers before signing a one-day deal to retire as a member of the Celtics in 2017.

After a weekend of trending for what was a controversial video, ESPN decided that it was best to move on from Pierce altogether.
