Juan Soto and the Washington Nationals finally got their season underway with a bang.

Soto is the greatest young star in all of baseball, and you can come after me if you think otherwise. The Nationals slugger was featured by ESPN just before the start of the regular season, so the hype level is high right now.

At 22 years old, Soto is the prime reason the Nationals are a sleeper pick to win the NL East this season. Despite residing in the same division as the New York Mets and Atlanta Braves, the Nationals 1-2 pitching punch of Max Scherzer and Stephen Strasburg, plus a lineup buoyed by Soto, makes for an intriguing team in a stacked division.

The Nationals finally got their first win of the season — albeit in their first game, which was delayed by a COVID-19 outbreak — thanks to Soto.

Juan Soto isn’t an MVP sleeper anymore

Soto’s only hit of the day came in the ninth inning, but it was a loud one. In 2020, Soto hit .351 with a .490 OBP in 49 games played. Expecting him to keep up that ridiculous pace for an entire season would be unwise, but this is Juan Soto we’re talking about. Why the hell not?

Nationals season delay continues as Monday’s game vs Braves postponed. dark. Next
