Keith Hernandez’s at-home cat emergency takes over entire Mets broadcast.
The 2021 MLB season is turning into the year of the cat. First, when the angry grey cat interrupted the Rockies-Dodgers game this week and now this. During the broadcast of the Mets-Phillies game, broadcaster Keith Hernandez‘s phone went off (and his ringtone is wind chimes which is kind of lovely).
“I’ve got a slight emergency at home, that’s what it is,” Hernandez says and then everyone listening takes a big breath waiting to hear what happened.
He goes on to explain his cat-sitter needed to feed his hungry cat and the key got jammed in the door. Phew, so no one died.
“I don’t know if I’m gonna be able to get in my house tonight,” he said amid laugher from his coworkers.
Keith Hernandez’s at-home cat emergency upstaged a home run
Amid all the cat drama, Dom Smith hit a homer and pretty much no one cared because we were all wondering when this cat was going to get his dinner.
Luckily, we got an update.
He let us know a friend and locksmith were heading over to the house now, and hopefully his cat Hadji will finally get its dinner.
The Mets ended up winning that game, 8-4 but something tells me you weren’t reading this story for the game score.
