Lorenzo Cain’s return is exactly what the Brewers needed at Wrigley Field (Video)

Lorenzo Cain provided all of the offense for the Milwaukee Brewers during Wednesday’s 4-2 win over the Chicago Cubs.

Lorenzo Cain was briefly sidelined following the Milwaukee Brewers‘ first two games of the season due to a minor oblique injury. After missing three games, Cain made his return on Wednesday afternoon against the rival Chicago Cubs. And to say Cain was a difference maker for Milwaukee is a massive understatement.

In the top of the eighth inning, Cain hit a solo home run off reliever Alec Mills to give the Brewers a late 1-0 lead. However, the Brewers would head back to a tie in the bottom of the frame following Cubs outfielder Joc Pederson’s solo blast against Devin Williams to tie things up at one run apiece. With the game headed to the tenth inning, of course it was Cain to add runs to the board with his three-run blast off Brandon Workman.

It’s safe to say that there are no more issues with Cain’s oblique based off this home run-heavy performance.

The Brewers’ three-run cushion was far from safe. Cubs outfielder Jason Heyward knocked in third baseman Kris Bryant to cut their deficit to two runs. Chicago actually loaded the bases with two outs on the board, forcing Brewers manager Craig Counsell to pull J.P. Feyereisen for Brad Boxberger. Milwaukee secured the win thanks to an Ian Happ fly-out.

Thanks to Cain, the Brewers are now on a two-game winning streak as they begin their three-game series against the rival St. Louis Cardinals.
