Cubs biggest early-season flaw exposed again in loss to Brewers

The Chicago Cubs suffered a rough loss to the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday and the bats never came alive for the club. 

Thus far, the 2021 campaign just hasn’t been what Chicago Cubs fans were hoping to see. The NL Central powerhouse is now 3-3 on the year following a disappointing 4-2 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday.

In the loss, the Chicago bats were asleep from start to finish. Need further proof of that? Well, the guys finished with just three hits on the day. That’s simply never going to cut it.

The offense for the Chicago Cubs needs to get better and fast

Ian Happ, Joc Pederson and Jason Heyward all finished with one hit a piece for the Cubs. Other than that, everyone else in the lineup couldn’t muster anything else to help the team out while at the dish.

It’s not often that we see Javier Baez go 0-for-4 at the plate, but that was indeed the case against the Brewers. On the season, Baez himself is off to an incredibly rough start, as he’s hitting .136 with one home run and three RBI.

As a team, Chicago is hitting .124. That stat alone has to give manager David Ross some serious nightmares. With so much talent in the Cubs’ lineup, for them to be hitting so poorly is inexcusable. So, what’s up? That’s the $1 million question.

While it’s still early in the 2021 campaign, the team’s performances in the first six games of the year sure is concerning. Is this just an early-season slump, or is this a problem that Cubs fans everywhere are going to have to worry about the rest of April and potentially May? We’ll find out soon enough, but the bats surely need to wake up and fast.
