Los Angeles Angeles star Mike Trout hit a home run out of the park against the Toronto Blue Jays, sending the ball into an elementary school.

Mike Trout has hit 305 home runs in the majors. The latest might have been one of his coolest.

It certainly had a unique landing spot.

Trout went yard in the fifth inning, sending Ross Striplings’s fastball 444 feet back to school.

No, literally. There’s an elementary school outside of the Blue Jays training facility where Thursday’s game was held. Trout’s home run had the length to get there.

It was only possible for Trout to pull that off because of the unusual circumstances of Toronto’s 2021 season.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic is complicating travel between the United States and Canada, the franchise opted to open the season playing their home games at TD Ballpark. It just so happens an elementary school sits outside the left-field wall.

Whatever the venue, Trout was feeling it. By the seventh inning, he was only a triple shy of the cycle.

Mike Trout is making the most of 2021 so far

Trout’s homer came in the top of the fifth to give the Angels a 4-3 advantage, but Toronto battled back in the sixth with two runs of their own, including a Biggio home run. The two teams were locked 5-5 in the eighth.

Trout has had a strong start to the 2021 season. He entered Thursday’s game batting .368 with an OBP of .556 and an SLG  of .737. Through six games, he had seven hits and two home runs. Now he has three.

Los Angeles has also enjoyed the start of the new campaign. The team is 4-2 after a season-opening homestand against the White Sox and Astros. The trip to Florida to take on Toronto began their first road trip of the year.
