Trey Mancini gets incredible ovation after beating cancer (Video)

In his first home appearance since beating cancer, Baltimore Orioles first baseman Trey Mancini received quite the ovation from the fans on hand. 

What a moment we had on Thursday at Camden Yards between the Baltimore Orioles and Boston Red Sox. Before the opening pitch, the player intros took place like usual, but this time things were incredibly special.

That’s because as soon as first baseman Trey Mancini’s name was announced, the limited fans on hand at Camden Yards erupted in celebration to show support for him. It’s easy to understand why, as this is Mancini’s first home game since he beat colon cancer.

Baltimore Orioles fans gave Trey Mancini a special welcome back to Camden Yards

If you’re an Orioles fan and you’re getting emotional watching that clip above, we don’t blame you whatsoever. It’s been amazing to see Mancini back on the diamond and at the plate for Baltimore. He was unfortunately diagnosed with colon cancer and had to miss the 2020 campaign because of his treatments.

Mancini was able to overcome this incredible adversity and has since beaten his cancer. Now, he’s back at first base where the Orioles love seeing him for their showdowns. Mancini really is one of the best stories in sports right now.

As soon as it was announced that he’d miss the campaign last year, hearts broke all over Baltimore. Mancini is known for being a great guy around the league, and countless players sent him positive messages of support for what he was going through.

Now, the fifth-year veteran is ready to rock in 2021 and he hopes to have a strong season for Baltimore. It goes without saying, but it’s incredibly hard not to root for Mancini, especially after everything he has had to deal with.
