Ozzie Albies gives Braves early lead with 2-run homer
Atlanta Braves star Ozzie Albies did what he does best and gave his team a 2-run lead with another beautiful home run.
The start of Sunday’s showdown between the Braves and Phillies could not have gone much better for Atlanta fans. That’s because Ronald Acuña Jr. wasted no time in getting on base, and then the man behind him did what he does best: put runs on the board.
Indeed, second baseman Ozzie Albies went to the dish with Acuña on first and then quickly gave Atlanta a two-run lead thanks to a head-turning two-run homer. This dinger came with Albies batting right-handed too, making things that much sweeter.
Ozzie Albies belting a two-run homer was nothing short of majestic
This was only Albies second plate appearance of the year batting righty and he let everyone know once again just how dangerous he is at the plate on either side. Yup, regardless if he’s hitting lefty or righty, the star infielder is a threat to leave the yard.
Albies made some sweet contact with the ball, as it was able to rise just above the wall in right field to put the Braves up 2-0 to start things off. This of course is an incredibly important series for the two clubs, as there’s early NL East bragging rights on the line. So far, so good for Atlanta thanks to this Albies smash.
Entering Sunday’s action, the Braves are 4-4 on the year, while the Phillies are 5-3 to start the campaign. These two clubs, along with the New York Mets, figure to battle it out throughout the season for divisional supremacy. It’s going to be a fun ride the rest of the way, no doubt about that one here folks.
