Kevin James to play Saints coach Sean Payton in new Netflix movie
By John Buhler
So Kevin James is going to play New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton in a Netflix movie.
Comedic actor Kevin James and New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton will forever be connected, thanks to Happy Madison Productions.
Yes, you heard that correctly. James will play Payton in an upcoming Netflix movie called “Home Team”, produced by his buddy Adam Sandler’s production company. The movie will be about Payton’s one year away from the Saints due to the Bountygate scandal. James is a former football player from his days at SUNY Cortland, but NBC’s Peter King thinks he needs to lose some weight.
You know who looks more like Payton than James? His The King of Queens co-star Patton Oswalt!
New Orleans Saints: Kevin James has stolen Patton Oswalt’s role of a lifetime
While King suggesting James needs to lose some weight is funny on its own, Payton’s doppelgänger has long been James’ former comedy co-star. Once again, Spence gets the shaft for no reason other than being Spence. I know I’m sweating the small stuff here, but this would have been Oswalt’s version of Gary Busey playing Buddy Holly in The Buddy Holly Story. Perfection.
Because it will be a Happy Madison production on Netflix, oh, there will be jokes aplenty for the entire family to enjoy. The good thing for Saints fans is this movie is set in a time before the Minneapolis Miracle, Nickell Robey-Coleman’s pass breakup, Kyle Rudolph’s catch and Drew Brees’ retirement. 2012 is only three years removed from the Saints winning the Super Bowl.
Here is to James playing the most important role of his life since the amazing Doug Heffernan.
