The Pirates forced Jayce Tingler to pull Blake Snell in the first inning of Tuesday’s game.
Snell gave up three runs and loaded the bases against the lowly Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday night, forcing Tingler’s hand. While Snell was visibly upset given the circumstances, he’ll have a tough time criticizing his manager for the decision this time around. Snell was erratic with his pitches, and could’ve easily put the Padres in a hole they wouldn’t have been able to dig out of.
This, of course, will remind baseball fans of the 2020 World Series, when Rays manager Kevin Cash pulled Snell earlier than he or Rays supporters would’ve preferred. The Dodgers would pull off a Game 6 comeback and the Rays lost their chance to force a Game 7.
Baseball fans had plenty of jokes for Blake Snell

Screw the haters, I give huge props to Blake Snell for even making it 2/3 an inning versus this absolute murders row of future Hall of famers. #Pirates #Padres pic.twitter.com/uRf6TzfquI

San Diego Padres LHP #4 Blake Snell was removed after pitching 2/3 of a inning. 3 hits, 3 ER, 2 BB, 1 K. Snell was “hot” about being removed. #LetsGoBucs pic.twitter.com/hjVPPz6kvx

The Pirates are Blake Snell’s kryptonite

Real reason Blake Snell just got pulled: The Rays’ numbers show that he’s not as effective the second time through the order ... of the Pirates ... in the first inning.

OK, I’ll stop now. Maybe.
Give Pirates fans some credit, they’re still watching this dumpster fire of a team ten games into what’s sure to be a rough season. Nonetheless, it’s best they get their Snell jokes in now, rather than after the Padres form whatever superteam A.J. Preller is planning.
The Death Star wasn’t constructed in one day. Frankly, I’m not sure the Death Star would have a chance against the Dodgers.
Snell might want to get his stuff together by then.
