. 4. 45. Scouting Report. KJ Hamler. player. Pick Analysis. WR, Broncos

Hamler was the second wide receiver the Broncos drafted in 2020, but in 13 games his numbers weren’t too good (30 catches for 381 yards, three touchdowns). He did show promise when opportunities came his way though, with back-to-back 10 target outings (Week 9 and Week 10) and a two-touchdown game in Week 14.

With the return of a fully healthy Courtland Sutton (torn ACL) this year, Hamler will be pushed down the pecking order for targets a notch in a pass offense that struggled last year. But the diminutive slot man (5-foot-9, 178 pounds) can make the most of his snaps with an occasional carry in the run game (nine carries for 40 yards as a rookie), and he can be a impact player in the return game with a bigger role there. The overall idea is to get the ball in his hands, even if he’s not playing a ton.

Hamler will need injuries around him to have a notable, consistent role in the Broncos’ offense. But there is ample talent here, and there should be a place for him to make a discernible impact in 2021.
