The Milwaukee Brewers went ahead and trolled the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday after Corbin Burnes had one heck of a showing to secure the series win.

Some bad blood brewing between the Chicago Cubs and Milwaukee Brewers? Well, what else is new? These two NL Central clubs really don’t like each other and the off-field drama has taken a turn thanks to some exchanged jabs on Twitter. This of course comes after Chicago threw behind Brandon Woodruff earlier this week.

The Cubs got it started on social media when they posted a tweet calling out the Brewers for hitting Willson Contreras so many times in his career. Milwaukee fans were livid, especially since Chicago’s Twitter caption read “unbelievable” and nothing more. Well, the Brewers went ahead and responded in the best way possible following Wednesday’s 7-0 victory.

Milwaukee’s social media team owned the Cubs following a big win

That’s how you really put the Cubbies in their place. With a simple, not-so subtle tweet, Milwaukee made Wednesday’s loss for the Cubs feel even worse. The Brewers were able to come away with the win thanks to a head-turning performance from starting pitcher Corbin Burnes. On the day, he tossed six innings of shutout ball, allowing only two hits.

For the game, Chicago’s bats stayed cold, as they were only able to muster up four hits. Milwaukee had different luck at the dish, scoring seven runs on eight hits. Thus far this season, the Cubs have had their fare share of struggles and they’re now 5-7 on the campaign. The Brewers are 7-5 and tied for first place with the St. Louis Cardinals at the top of the NL Central standings.

With some drama between Chicago and Milwaukee developing here, fans sure can’t wait for the two teams to battle it out next. There could be even more fireworks on the way.
