Here is how the Atlanta Braves can continue to own the New York Mets in a big trade.

Few rivalries in baseball as are acrimonious as the one between the Atlanta Braves and the New York Mets in the National League East.

To be fair, most teams in the NL East absolutely hate each other. Neither of these clubs love the Philadelphia Phillies. While the Braves do not care for the Washington Nationals, it is not like the Miami Marlins are particularly fond of Atlanta either. But with the Braves and the Mets expected to contend this year, here is one trade Atlanta can do to stick it to the club they despise so much.

How can the Braves put together a blockbuster trade that will even make the Mets jealous?

Atlanta Braves The 1 trade that will make the New York Mets furious

It is simple. The Braves could upgrade their already potent lineup by orchestrating a deal with the Chicago Cubs for third baseman Kris Bryant. Given that Bryant is playing on an expiring deal, he is not expected to return to Da Windy City on a second contract. Even though his team is struggling out of the gate too, Bryant has been the one constant in the middle of the Cubs’ batting order.

Of course, trading for Bryant would be little more than a rental for cash-strapped Atlanta. Then again, maybe he fits in perfectly with the culture in place and wants to play with the Braves in the early part of his 30s? For the Braves to get Bryant, they will need to send hit-or-miss third baseman Austin Riley to Chicago, as well as a pair of top prospects to make the Cubs bite here.

While there are no guarantees Atlanta will want to trade for a marquee player like Bryant, if the Cubs’ season continues to go south, their front office will want to get something for asset that will not likely be back with the team in 2021. Because the Mets could also be in the market to add a player like Bryant ahead of the deadline, this would make the Braves better and crush New York.

Here is to Bryant follow Chipper Jones’ footsteps of sticking it to the Mets at third base for Atlanta.
