Pete Alonso couldn’t be happier Phillies fans are back booing him
New York Mets slugger Pete Alonso knows that he’ll always get booed when he visits the Philadelphia Phillies, and he wouldn’t have it any other way.
More and more, life is beginning to return a little bit more to normal. You know that’s the case for Major League Baseball fans, as they’re able to fill stadiums up at a limited capacity and yell their heads off in support of their favorite team. There’s also plenty of heckling going on, too.
New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso is far too familiar with this. He knows too well that whenever he gets ready to take on the Phillies in Philadelphia, the team’s passionate fans will be ready to try and get in his head. He’s all for it.
Mets first baseman Pete Alonso loves it when fans boo him during games
While Alonso’s comments might seem a bit strange, it’s also easy to understand why he feels this way. In 2020, MLB stadiums were basically empty and fans for the most part were banned from attending contests. While there’s a limited amount of folks allowed inside thus far for this season, it really makes a change on the energy for a game.
For players, would they rather play in front of a bunch of cardboard cutouts or hear team’s fans losing their minds from start to finish of a big game? The answer is obvious there.
With Alonso, while he loves hearing the New York faithful at Citi Field, he sure doesn’t mind opposing fans trying to rattle him as well. That’s certainly no easy task, but you better believe countless Phillies supporters will be ready to give it their best shot whenever New York is in town and Alonso is at the plate.
