Baseball fans are reveling in the New York Yankees’ 5-10 start to the 2021 season.

Remember when the New York Yankees were deemed the favorites to represent the American League in the 2021 World Series? Sure, it’s only two weeks into the season, but things are not going well for the “Bronx Bombers.”

The Yankees lost 4-2 to the rival Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday to secure getting swept at home in front of their home fanbase. Perhaps even worse, the Yankees have lost five straight and now hold a 5-10 record on the season, which is the worst mark in the entire AL. Of course, non-Yankees fans are reveling in the team’s dysfunction and misery.

Non-Yankees fans are celebrating the team’s abysmal start to the 2021 season

Not only is 5-10 the worst record in the entire AL, but it is the worst start New York has had to a season since 1997. Additionally, the Yankees have not been in last place in the AL East since 1968. That is how bad things have gone for this team.

The Yanks did themselves no favors in their series against the Rays, as they only managed to record 11 hits in the three-game series. To make matters that much more worse, the Yankees only mustered one hit against Michael Wacha, a pitcher who allowed 10.2 hits per nine innings in 2019 and 12.2 hits per nine innings last season.

While fans of the other 29 teams in the league are reveling, Yankees fans are absolutely miserable. After the final out of Sunday’s game, the team was literally booed back to the locker room. That was tame compared to Friday night, when fans in Yankee Stadium pelted the field with baseballs and other objects.

There are still 147 games remaining in the season, so all is not lost for New York. The thing is, they have not played to inspire much confidence in their fanbase. New York looks to break out of their five-game losing streak on Tuesday night when they face the Atlanta Braves.

Next. Cardinals fans are so freaking done with Matt Carpenter. dark
