A reunion may be in order for two Clemson football stars in Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne.

In Mel Kiper Jr.’s latest NFL mock draft in conjunction with his ESPN colleague Todd McShay, he has the Jacksonville Jaguars landing a pair of Clemson football standouts in Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne.

Kiper took the Clemson quarterback with the No. 1 overall selection. He also picked up former Florida standout wide receiver Kadarius Toney with the No. 25 overall pick by way of the Jalen Ramsey trade with the Los Angeles Rams. At the top of the second round, Kiper used the No. 33 overall pick on the former Clemson star running back.

Clemson duo Trevor Lawrence, Travis Etienne could reunite in Jacksonville

It is a certainty that Lawrence will be the top pick in this spring’s draft. He is the most hyped quarterback prospect since Andrew Luck out of Stanford in 2012. His being the perceived best prospect in the draft was a big reason why former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer left the Big Noon Kickoff set to become the Jaguars’ next head coach. Lawrence is going to the Jaguars.

As for if Etienne will end up in North Florida, that remains to be seen. He is one of two running backs who could conceivably go in the first round, along with Doak Walker winner Najee Harris out of Alabama. Either running back could go as high as the Miami Dolphins at No. 18, but there is a chance both will have to wait until day two of the 2021 NFL Draft to hear their names called.

Admittedly, there is a chance Etienne goes to the Jaguars at No. 25 instead of Toney. That is around the time when teams besides the Dolphins could be thinking about drafting a running back. Those teams include the Pittsburgh Steelers, the New York Jets and the Buffalo Bills. Ultimately, Etienne is going top 40 with the Jaguars picking thrice in that draft range.

If Meyer and the Jaguars want to double down on some Clemson action, then they should do it.
