3 reasons Patrick Mahomes will win 2021 NFL MVP in runaway
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is the favorite to win the 2021 NFL MVP award. He won’t just win it. He’ll run away with it.
Patrick Mahomes has taken the NFL by storm since arriving in 2017. With one MVP already under his belt, the Chiefs quarterback is in pursuit of a second.
Will he get it in 2021?
Over the last two seasons, Mahomes has finished as a contender for the award but lost out to Lamar Jackson and Aaron Rodgers.
Here are three reasons he’ll run away with it this time…
Patrick Mahomes will be extra motivated
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made Mahomes and the Chiefs’ offense look human in the Super Bowl. Instead of taking a bite out of Mahomes stardom, that game should fuel him to bigger and better things.
“I think defeat helps you more than success,” Mahomes told CNBC in response to the loss.
He’s right. Nothing motivates a competitor like Mahomes more than getting punched in the mouth.
Mahomes definitely experienced that in the Super Bowl loss, throwing two interceptions and no touchdowns for the first time in 30 games. He was sacked three times and struggled to get his team going.
It’s up to the quarterback to learn from his mistakes. You can also count on Andy Reid taking notes and finding ways to prevent his offense from being shut down like that again.
If you thought Mahomes was great in 2018, ’19 and ’20, the ’21 version should have even more of a chip on his shoulder.
