Bears predictions, David Montgomery

4. David Montgomery will rush for 1,500+ yards

Not many Bears are in a position to benefit from the uncertainty surrounding the team’s passing attack. Montgomery is a notable exception to that rule.

It’s easy to envision a scenario where Nagy and his coaching staff lean on the run game more than ever before. They’ll look to get plenty of their skill position players the ball via perimeter runs, but they still need Montgomery to carry a heavy workload up the middle.

Last season he soaked up 247 carries for 1,070 yards. That comes out to 4.3 yards per carry. Look for Montgomery to improve his efficiency in 2021. It’s time for him to enjoy a breakout campaign at the tender age of 23.

Any chance Chicago has of fielding a top-10 offense is predicated on their ground game being outstanding. Montgomery gives them a chance to achieve that lofty goal. A big season from the powerful running back could go a long way towards helping Nagy save his job.
